METALLIC LEAF FLAKES
This is a quick primer to explain
how to use Metallic Foil Leafing.
To Make a Background or Border
Using double sided tape:
Cut double-sided tape such as red-liner tape into the shape and size you want.
Remove the backing from one side. Press exposed tape to the area in which you
want to create a background. Peel off the second backing. Press metallic leaf
flakes onto the exposed tape and brush off with a stiff bristled brush. Save
the excess for use on another project!
Using leafing adhesive:
brush leafing adhesive onto your surface in the areas you want to leaf. Once
dry, the leafing the adhesive will be tacky but no longer cloudy or liquid.
Press metallic leaf flakes or leaf sheets onto the dry adhesive and brush off
with a stiff bristles brush. Save the excess for another project.
To Emboss a Stamped Image in Metallic
Leaf
Using heat activated glue
powder: Stamp your image using pigment or embossing ink. Sprinkle with EmbosStick
powder over the image as you would embossing powder and pour off the excess.
Heat with an embossing heat gun until it is clear instead of a white powder.
While still hot and sticky, press your foil leaf flakes onto the image. Let
cool for 1 minute and brush away the excess foil leaf with a stiff bristled
brush. Viola! Your image is richly embossed in bright metallic beauty!
Using Palette Glue Pad:
Stamp your image on glossy card stock with the glue pad. Clean the glue off
your stamp before continuing so it doesn't dry while you are leafing. Heat the
glue with a heat tool (embossing gun) until it is no longer shiney. It is not
possible to overheat the glue so heat it as much as you can without scorching
your paper. Press your leafing sheets or flakes into the stamped image and brush
off with a stiff bristles brush. Save the excess for another project.
